Owen Christopher

Rapid City native Owen Christopher (he/him) is a graduate of the Reynolds School of Journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). During his time at UNR, he was a founding member of the film club and he worked as a documentarian producing films about the Nevada gaming industry and a local Aztec dance group, which won best picture at the UNR Documentary Film Festival in 2022.

Owen is an aspiring documentary filmmaker and storyteller. He has a passion for collecting vintage technology. His prized piece is a professional-grade 1994 CRT TV. He currently resides in Las Vegas.

Christopher Darché

Christopher Darché (he/him) is a graduate student at the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. He is pursuing a master’s degree in Media Innovation.

Chris wants to teach people about other cultures, and he has worked as a Health Extension Agent for the Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa. In Senegal, Chris had the chance to produce a few multimedia projects about Senegalese culture.

Currently, he is volunteering at PBS Reno as a production assistant. Chris is passionate about the outdoors and loves hiking and exploring the world.

Colton Jimenez

Colton Jimenez (he/him) is a senior at the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. He enjoys writing both fiction and nonfiction. His goal is to share stories that highlight the role of peace and harmony in humanity and how people from all walks of life are interconnected.

His reporting work with The Reynolds Sandbox covered the lives of immigrants and abortion in Latin America. In addition, he also produced a satirical analysis on Sonoma County, where he was born and raised.

Colton loves to read and his favorite book is The Great Gatsby by Scott F. Fitzgerald because of the sensory details in the prose.

Kingkini Sengupta

Kingkini Sengupta (she/her) is currently pursuing her master’s degree with the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. A former broadcast producer, she has a newfound love of storytelling and writing.

She has a prior degree in Social Communications Media from SCMSophia, University of Mumbai, India. She has also worked for six years with two Indian news channels: New Delhi Television (NDTV) and Republic TV. Kingkini is excited to work as a States Newsroom Fellow this upcoming summer with Nevada Current, a Las Vegas-based digital publication.

Kingkini loves traveling, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen and playing with dogs. She uses food to bond with people she does not know. Someday besides being a successful multimedia journalist, she would love to open her own Indian restaurant and chai cafe in the United States.

Nancy Vazquez

Nancy Vazquez (they/them) was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. They are of Latinx descent. They are expected to graduate from the Reynolds School of Journalism in the Spring of 2023. Nancy seeks to cover underrepresented communities and the arts. As a first-generation student they are committed to work on stories about immigrant communities that uplift and highlight the voices of people from those communities.

Nancy dreams of becoming a multimedia journalist. They currently work as a freelance photographer and have worked as a reporter  for Our Town Reno. They are an artist whose work can be considered traditional and participate in local art shows often.
