First of all I want to thank everyone for making this bootcamp and my story a success. Without the support of my mentor Tim, and all the other editors it would have been a sad week instead of a triumphant one.

Going into this week, I was pretty nervous. I applied and was unsure if I would get in because of my lack of radio experience. When I got the email saying I had made it, things started moving quickly. I met Tim for the first time and then Traci. I had to change my subject less than a week before the program was scheduled to start, and I had to graduate. Going into that first Monday, I had no idea how much work I would end up doing.

My source would change again and I would have to start my project over for the second time. I was forced to adapt fast and work even faster. I got used to re-planning, re-interviewing, and re-writing. I was exhausted at the end of every day. While this may sound like a bad time, I see it as an incredible learning experience. If nothing else, I got more practice this way. Why else did I apply if not to get the most out of this week as possible? Believe me when I say I completed a week’s worth of work.

I enjoyed my time this week. I was able to grow close with my mentor Tim and I got to meet other incredible journalists, journalism students, and media professionals. My project was an uphill battle, but I’m incredibly pleased and proud with how it turned out.
